Brief History:
The Jesuit order established the first church at this location in 1600, naming it Crucifix Church due to its cross-shaped architecture. For approximately 400 years, this shrine has served fishing communities and bestowed grace to countless devotees across religious boundaries. The parish was officially established as an independent parish in 1938. Six affiliated churches serve the surrounding areas, including St. Matthew Church, Tirukkulur, St. Anne Church, Alwar Thirunagari, and Swaminathapuram. The major annual 10-day feast is celebrated from July 16 to 25, with the grand chariot procession taking place on July 25.
