History
St. Theresa’s Church was originally part of Baccha Parish. Later, Rev. Fr. Lucas Arulappa began developing the mission in 1989. He led the construction of the church dedicated to St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus. Afterwards, the church was blessed on 6 February 1991.
Over the years, several parish priests have guided the faithful and strengthened parish life. Moreover, better roads and a bridge near the mission improved access to the church. In addition, the Ursuline Sisters from Ranchi established their convent in Kusumba in 2005, supporting education and pastoral ministry.
Today, St. Theresa’s Church serves about 1,101 Catholics from nearly 203 families across 21 villages. Furthermore, the parish celebrates Holy Mass, offers catechism classes, and organizes community and spiritual programs throughout the year. Therefore, the church continues to be a vibrant center of Catholic faith and service in the Godda district.
