Brief History:

Two Catholic families from Kuthankuzhi settled in South Meenavankulum around 1989, earning their livelihood through fishing in the village’s large pond. When the panchayat began auctioning fishing rights, the occupation became unprofitable, prompting many families to relocate in search of other employment. In 1989, Rev. Fr. N. S. Panneerselvan established a small Sacred Heart of Jesus chapel that functioned as a sub-station. During the tenure of Rev. Fr. Jerosin in 1999, the chapel was rebuilt as a concrete structure and a statue of the Child Jesus was installed, giving the church its present dedication.
