History

Roman Catholic Church, Garhi was formed as a separate mission from Belatanr Parish on 3 May 2007. Later, Rev. Fr. Francis Murmu was appointed as the Father-in-Charge to lead the new parish and strengthen the Catholic community in the area.

The mission had already begun to grow through the dedicated efforts of Rev. Fr. Mathew Kaithara, who laid the foundation for its pastoral and community development. Moreover, the Holy Cross Sisters established a school and a dispensary to provide education and healthcare services for local families. These ministries continue to benefit the surrounding villages.

Today, the parish celebrates Holy Mass regularly and offers the sacraments, catechism classes, prayer meetings, and pastoral programs. In addition, the church encourages parishioners to take an active role in faith formation and charitable works. Therefore, the mission continues to grow as a center of worship, education, and community service in Giridih district.
