Brief History:
The shrine was established when Fr. Joseph purchased 14 cents of land from the family of Blessed Devasakayam Pillai in 1976. A small chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart was consecrated on December 30, 1976, with the martyr belongings and personal items preserved at the site. Over decades, the sanctuary expanded through land acquisitions and construction projects including a meditation center in 2006, memorial hall in 2017, and prayer garden in 2019, transforming it into a significant pilgrimage destination honoring the first Indian layman to be beatified.
