Brief History:

St. Anthony’s Church, Manali, traces its history to St. Thomas who preached Christianity in Manali and surrounding areas during the 1st century, with a double-striped cross preserved in the church as evidence. A modest chapel and primary school were established in 1935. The foundation stone for the new church was laid on October 12, 1977, and consecrated by Bishop Arokiasamy on October 14, 1978. The church also holds a small relic of St. Anthony’s incorruptible tongue, and serves approximately 188 families with 2 branch churches.
