Brief History:

St. Sebastian’s Church, Sebastiyarpuram (Ochavila), was established in 1897 when a handful of Christian believers gathered under a thatched shelter for worship amidst a predominantly non-Christian population. Initially Mass was celebrated monthly in Latin by the Vengodan parish priest. A stone church was constructed in 1917 and the current church structure was consecrated on April 9, 1989 by Bishop Leon A. Dharmaraj of Kottar Diocese. Today the parish serves approximately 140 families across 6 mission groups.
