Brief History:
This Parish was erected and entrusted to the Capuchin Fathers in 1971. The first Parish Priest was Fr Montfort OFM Cap. Chinmaya Nagar Parish and Nesapakkam Parish were bifurcated from this Parish.This Parish has a social centre to train girls in tailoring and computer education. There are also an employment bureau and a centre for Legal Counselling.

San Thome Church, officially known as the National Shrine of St. Thomas Cathedral Basilica, is a church of the Catholic Church in India, at the Santhome neighbourhood of Chennai, in Tamil Nadu.
