Brief History

Bishop Hartmann Friary was blessed on Nov. 1, 1966 by Minister General of the Capuchins. A new Church was constructed and dedicated to St. Lawrence of Brindisi on March 16, 1969. The coming of the Indian Capuchins to the Hartmann Friary made it possible to cater to the spiritual and educational needs of the surrounding people. Many of the parishioners are of floating nature since they work for Air Force, Indian Railways and Indian Veterinary Research Institute.
