Please I will be visiting Vellore from 9th November-13th December 2012 as part of my MIH programme with Copenhagen University. My class will be staying at the CMC Christian Medical College campus. I just want to know the times you have your masses (weekdays and weekends)and how far it is from the CMC campus to the church. I would love to attend daily masses in India. thanks
Festivals like Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, Our lady of Conception day,New Year EVE, Our lady of Rosary, Our lady of Auxilium, and other memorable days of the Saints and Pongal festival are also celebrated. in fact it is a very great boon to all the people of Vellore.
Our lady of Assumption “Vinnerpu Annai” church is situated in middle of the vellore town. This is one of the very old catholic church in Vellore diocese and is the head of all the other parishes in Vellore. The old cathedral was demolished and the present cathedral was completed in the year 2002. It now became a major spot in midst of vellore with its beautiful architecture.
Every Saturdays special prayers and veneration is carried on in this cathedral. Every day masses with prayers can be seen. People irrespective of all religion, divisions, community and culture flock everyday to get the blessings of Jesus through our mother.
Feast of our church falls on August 15th, special masses headed by His most Excellency Bishop and in the evening Grandeour car procession with our lady of assumption will be darwn in the main streets of Vellore with nadhaswara isai and holy sacramental adoration followed by lowering of our lady’s flag.
Our lady of Assumption church is ne of the bigest church in the vellore and thiruvannamalai districts. The church is surrounded by the green plants and grass.It gives a plesent and peace while entering the church. The church celebrates the feast day on Aug 15 every year with a grand car.
